As a new Soldier of Christ Jesus, you first need some orientation.
Many Christians believe for one reason or another that all that
God wants from them is to get saved. If that was the case, He
would just rapture us as soon as we accepted Jesus as our Lord
and Savior. Since we are all here, He must have
something else in store for us.
Here are some of the basics that God wants from His
children in General. This list is not
meant to be exhaustive. There are also things that God
has created us individually for. He has a special and
individual plan for all of us.
I Relationship
First and foremost, God wants a personal and intimate
relationship with each of us. It is through the growth of this
relationship that God will reveal His will for our lives to us.
Many people make the mistake of thinking
that God wants us to do some important work or ministry first and
foremost.
While He does have important things for all of us, the Relationship
comes before the Ministry.
To put this in perspective, imagine that you are in the
Military. You have just signed up and are ready to get
started.

You sign the papers, take the oath and you run out
and start fighting. The only problem is that you have no clue
who or where you should be fighting, if you should be fighting, what
your role is, or what your assignment is.
You have had no basic training or advanced training,
nor do you know your chain of command or even who your immediate
commander is.
This web site nor any other can provide you with all
of the training you need for your new life. That is why Christ
established His Church. The reason that we have the Church is for
the Equipping of the Saints. Ephesians
4:11-13 says, "The gifts
he gave were that some would be apostles, some prophets, some
evangelists, some pastors and teachers, to equip
the saints for the work of ministry,
for building up the body of Christ, until all of us come to the
unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to
maturity, to the measure of the full stature of Christ."1
God calls no one to be a "Lone Ranger"
type. We are all to become part of His Church Body. It
is through the Body as a whole that Christ calls us to work.
